Ms. Maxwell joined the firm as Senior Counsel in 2007.

Ms. Maxwell previously served as Vice President-Associate General Counsel at Hearthstone, a real estate finance company, and also as Vice President-Regional Corporate Counsel for Meritage Homes, a publicly traded homebuilder.  In these positions, Ms. Maxwell’s practice included acquisition and disposition of real property, financing and land banking transactions, leasing, joint venture structuring and documentation, commercial contracts, general corporate responsibilities and employment related work. In addition, while at Meritage, Ms. Maxwell’s practice also included construction contracts and professional services agreements, retail purchase agreement and DRE related work, CC&R’s, disclosures and related development and entitlement work.  Prior to her positions at Hearthstone and Meritage, Ms. Maxwell was an associate at the law firm of Gordon & Rees in San Francisco where she handled a variety of transactional work in the areas of real estate, corporate, employment and intellectual property.

Ms. Maxwell received her B.S. with honors from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1985 and her J.D. from Santa Clara University in 1991.  She is admitted to practice in California and is a member of the Real Estate Section of the State Bar of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
